A painted pottery figure of an official, Tang Dynasty (618-907)
the standing dignitary with moulded moustache and bushy eyebrows, wearing a long-sleeved robe with a breast and back plate attached by twin buckles over the fabric, the cloud-toed shoes emerging from the long garment, his head covered with a peaked headdress decorated with a stylised flying bird motif -- 32in. (81.3cm.) high.
