PISA, Lorenzo. Manuscript on paper, 'La Fabbrica di Ferrara. Poema Heroico', architectural title page with arms of Ascanio Pio di Savoia and vignette showing a view of the city of Ferrara, allegorical frontispiece showing an archer shooting a bird, with the motto 'Si ferit illa cadet', dedicatory epistle to Ascanio Pio di Savoia dated Ferrara, 27 March 1627, 'Argumento', letter 'A Li Lettori', the poem in approx 313 stanzas in ottava rima, a concluding section of 'Avertimenti' elaborating on the text of the poem, together approximately 381 pages, 4to (200 x 145mm), contemporary pagination (erroneously numbering pp.353 and 358 consecutively), ruled borders (minor worming to last ten leaves and terminal blanks), contemporary Italian sheep, gilt, central cartouche with floral tool, gilt borders, later spine gilt in compartments, gauffered gilt edges (unobtrusive worming, lightly rubbed, lacking ties).

An inscription on one of the opening blanks describes another copy of the poem in the Biblioteca Castabili with a different dedication dated 29 May 1627, suggesting that this elegantly-produced manuscript may have been a presentation copy to the dramatic poet Ascanio Pio di Savoia (d.1649).
