HAYES, Rutherford B. Cabinet portrait photograph signed and dated ("R.B. Hayes"), as President, by J. Landy of Cincinnati; n.d. [signed 12 September 1879].
6. 1/4 x 4. 3/16 in., including gold-edged mount with Landy imprint and copyright, verso with elaborate gold and silver ink backstamp, remains of mount on verso. Fine condition.
SIGNED BY HAYES AS PRESIDENT. A fine head and shoulders portrait of Hayes in suit and tie, gazing resolutely at an angle to the camera. The printed copyright date of 1877 has been altered to 1879 in ink that appears to match that of Hayes's inscription. Rare with a dated inscription as President.
