A RARE SIGNED PHOTOGRAPH OF THE NORTH VIETNAMESE COMMUNIST LEADER, taken at an airport in the Soviet Union or other Soviet-bloc country. A smiling Ho walks in front of a small cheering crowd, dressed in a maoist black tunic and trousers, holding his black cap in his left hand and waving with his right as he waves. Two apparachiks hover close by on his left. The leader of the Vietminh nationalist movement during World War II, Ho initially hoped to win the support of the U. S. for Vietnamese independence. They had, after all, helped liberate Vietnam from Japanese occupation. But given his support of Stalinist-style Communism, the American government wanted no part of him and sided with the ruling French colonial government, and then with the pro-American government of South Vietnam, against Ho's vision of a unified, communist Vietnam. A RARE SIGNATURE.
