The Mother of God in the popular type of the Kazanskaya, Christ shown half-length, upright and frontal, his right hand raised in blessing, their expressive faces delicately executed with soft earthly tones, their garments rendered in deep colours, highlighted with dense chrysography, the maphorion of the Mother with an elaborate hem imitating embroidered foliate and stylised designs, and a gold band with simulated pearls and precious stones, surrounded by floating clouds in shades of light green, with an unmarked silver-gilt riza and haloes
