A PORTABLE ICONOSTASIS
RUSSIAN, 19TH CENTURY
Consisting of eleven wings, structured like the Church iconostasis, the central panel simulating the Royal Doors with the Evangelists and the Annunciation, further up the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and the Anastasis, on the top tier the Mother of God of the Sign flanked by two prophets with inscribed scrolls, the rest of the wings starting from the lowest register showing the figures of the Deisis, followed by the images of the Liturgical feasts above, the three upper rows displaying portraits of saints, the apostles and prophets, executed with saturated colours highlighted in gold, on light green background
