AN IMPORTANT AND EXTREMELY RARE GERMAN SILVER-GILT AND FILIGREE JUDAICA ETROG CONTAINER
APPARENTLY UNMARKED, PROBABLY NORTH-GERMAN, CIRCA 1700
Shaped to simulate the natural form of the Etrog fruit complete with Pittam as reed ball finial and Okets as curved branch with two leaves engraved with veins, the hinged gilt body on three filigree ball feet, the top part of the simulated fruit encased in scrolling filigree overlay incorporating flowers and branch of grapes, with ball thumb piece for opening
