The design for this case by the unknown maker Le Duc, Paris circa 1770, is illustrated in H. Ottomeyer/P. Proschel et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, fig.3.11.1. The design for the case is described as Pièce de Bureau à la Romaine.
