Sam Whitbread started his brewing business in 1742 moving to Chiswell Street in 1750. In 1985 The board of Whitbread assembled an archive and retrieved records and brewing memorabila from their many premises around the country to sort and collate. The collection was either sold or donated to records offices and museums in 2001.
