A Cantonese ivory letter rack, 19th century
formed of seven slanted shelves flanked by two supports in the centre of a shaped backplate, densely carved and pierced with decoration including foliate lotus blossoms and scrolls, birds, phoenix, angels, figures carrying peach and cash, and figures under trees and in terraced gardens engaged in leisurely pursuits -- 10 7/8in. (27.6cm.) long.
