ENGLISH LITERATURE. A collection of autograph letters including:
George Bernard SHAW (1856-1950). Autograph note signed ('G.B.S.') to Berthe Brinitzer of American Broadcasting in Europe, 27 August [1944], declining to speak about the liberation of Paris, 'There is nothing to be said about the 'liberation' of Paris. Cheering, mafficking, bell ringing and the Marseillaise are appropriate, but they are not in my line', 4 lines at the head of a letter to him from Brinitzer, communicating the request, one page, 4to;
together with letters by Andrew Lang (two), George Meredith, Sabine Baring-Gould, Austin Dobson, A.C. Benson, Sidney Lee, John Masefield, C.K. Ogden, Coventry Patmore, Ella Wheeler Wilcox and Israel Zangwill, approximately 13 items. (13)
