A reassuring letter to a client, confirming that he is taking account of her views: 'à le gard de ce que vous me marqué àprehender que les combles ne soit trop haut à cause qu'il faut que les eaues tombent dans la cour, Je peux vous assurer quil nauront que la hauteur qui leur conviendera avoir pour quil est toute la grace possible'.
Jules Hardouin-Mansart, nephew of François Mansart, was the great baroque architect of Louis XIV, and is known especially for his work on the interior of Versailles including the Galerie des Glaces. He also built the Orangery and the Grand Trianon, and the church of Les Invalides.
