DIAGHILEV, Sergei Pavolovich (1872-1929). Letter signed to Sacheverell Sitwell, Paris, 6 March 1929, in French, asking about a 17th- or 18th-century English composer whom [Constant] Lambert
recommended to Boris Kochno and who (like Lambert) was thought to be mad: 'Vous comprendrez bien qu'il suffit de me parler d'un fou pour qu'il m'intéresse', asking him to approach Lambert about arranging the work [for a ballet], 3 pages, 8vo. [with] Sergei LIFAR (1905-1986). Autograph letter signed to 'Vidi' (at 'Sodepresse', presumably an editor), Paris, n.d. [17 January 1966] in Russian, recalling the ballet of Prokoviev's Romeo and Juliet and its creation in Paris in 1955 and criticising Labis's new production, 1½ pages, folio.
