Comments on a conference organised by Diederichs at Burg Lauenstein, on the theme of 'The problem of leadership in state and culture': Weber is determined to support the conference, although the arrangements are now most inconvenient for him; he is however astonished at a speech proposed to be given by Dr [Otto] Neurath on 'Social economy': 'Das giebt ja wieder den Heringssalat von heterogenen Problemen, wie das vorige Mal! Es war doch ausgemacht: "Auslese der Führer" -- und damit fertig. Was hat "Gemeinwirtschaft" damit zu schaffen?'. (2)
