Lot Essay

This unusual mirror frames belongs to a small group of Venetian furniture inset with either blue glass or more rarely porcelain plaques. This group includes a blue glass inset giltwood armchair dating from the third quarter of the 18th century, now conserved in the Museo Vetrario in Murano, illustrated in E. Colle, Il Mobile Rococo in Italia, Milan, 2003, p. 359, n. 86.
