LATE 19TH CENTURY, SPURIOUS BLUE INTERLACED L'S MARKS TO THE SERVICE, THE CHARGERS WITH IRON-RED STENCILLED EXP. MEDAILLES D'OR/FR/BREVETE MARK
Each piece of the service painted with a bust-length portrait of a royal French court beauty within a foliate gilt surround, two identified on the underside, comprising:
A coffee-pot and cover
A two handled sugar-bowl and cover
A coffee cup and two saucers
The chargers of shaped circular form, the border painted with three floral oval panels within gilt surrounds, the cavetto edged with gilt lappets, 13 in. (33 cm.) diameter
