Lot Essay

The attribution has been confirmed by Dr. Stella Rudolph, who will include the painting in her forthcoming catalogue raisonné on Carlo Maratti. Dr. Rudolph links this picture with a number of other mythological works that Maratti executed towards the end of his life.
