A rare French gilt-brass striking eight day four-glass mantel clock with coup perdu escapement and compound pendulum

The case with bevelled glasses and with presentation inscription dated 1885 to the front, white enamel chapter ring, blued steel Breguet hands and centre seconds, recessed gilt centre with visible coup perdu escapement, twin barrels movement with circular plates, strike on bell, stamped for GLT and S. Marti, the half-seconds pendulum with crossed suspension springs and heavy spherical counterweights
