Château Lynch-Bages--Vintage 1983
Pauillac, 5me cru classé
Lot 105 very good appearance. Levels into neck. Lot 106 good appearance. Levels base of neck. Lot 107 levels: nine base of neck and three top-shoulder. Lot 108 three capsules corroded. Three bin-soiled labels, two of which are damaged. Three creased labels. Levels: three into neck, five base of neck, two top, one upper and one mid-shoulder with signs of seepage
Tasting Note: This is another Lynch Bages that has never gone through an awkward, disjointed stage where it completely shut down. The colour remains a dense ruby with some lightening at the edge. Thick, juicy, succulent notes of crème de cassis intermixed with dried herbs, vanillin, minerals, and anise leap from the glass. Fleshy and full-bodied, with the vintage's voluptuous texture and low acid, fruit/glycerin-dominated flavors well-displayed in its full-bodied personality, this wine tastes young, but is also ready to drink. Anticipated maturity: now-2015. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate # 129 Jun 2000
