Lot Essay

Launched with a full ship-rig but converted to a barque in the early 1870s, North Wind was built in Richard's yard at Quebec, on the St.Lawrence River, in 1865. Registered at 783 tons gross (and net) and measuring 168½ feet in length with a 33½ foot beam, she was owned by B. Pearson of Whitby who operated her on a variety of routes across the world until she disappears from record around 1880.
