A large Japanese Satsuma vase and cover, by Hotoda, Meiji Period
decorated in typical enamels and gilt with all seven Gods of Good Fortune, surrounded by or holding their attributes, in a garden of flowering peony, kiku, plum blossom and bamboo, footrim, shoulder and cover with bands of lappets and geometric designs, inscribed and signed to the base: Satsumakoku Han meibutsu, Kamamoto makura (?) sei Satsuma yaki itte hanbai Hotoda shoten gakou Dainichizan Gyokusenzou (..Satsuma ware..by the Hotoda factory and painted by Dainichizen Gyokusen) -- 17½in.
