A pair of Chinese famille rose vases, Qianlong (1736-95)
each of a lobed pear shape rising to a tall waisted neck and flared quatrelobed rim, applied with a pair of dragon handles, surmounted by a domed cover with a lion finial, supported on a splayed foot, enamelled with cartouched enclosing dignitaries and ladies in a veranda listening to a flute player in a mountainous river landscape, the reverse with ladies appreciating a scroll presented by a monk, all below moulded tree shrews clambering on grapevine, flanked by cartouches reserved on a diaper ground, the covers similarly decorated -- 13¼in. (33.6cm.) high. (2)
