A PAIR OF GERMAN GREAVES AND SABATONS
Probably circa 1580
The greaves hinged on the outside, the forward plates each pierced for attaching a pair of poleyns and with unturned edge, the rear plates pierced with a single circular aperture for spurs, with turned roped edge top and bottom and later leather loops for the poleyn strap, the sabatons of nine plates each, including square toe-caps turned over at the front and sides.
