AN AUSTRIAN LARGE BRONZE MODEL CANNON ON FIELD CARRIAGE, IN EARLY 18TH CENTURY STYLE

With bronze multi-stage barrel cast in relief, the muzzle formed with a series of astragals combined with fillets, the base ring and second reinforce en suite, with further astragals over the chase and the first reinforce, the latter section incorporating a raised kite-shaped shield punched and engraved with scrolls about its border, the second reinforce punched and engraved with further scrollwork patterns about the base of a pair of dolphin handles, plain trunnions, the cascable decorated with a band of stylised leaves incorporating a prominent pan for the vent and drawn out to an urn-shaped button cast with a matching leaf design: on its original iron-mounted wooden carriage fitted with green painted ammunition box inscribed '17' within a gilt painted olive garland, fitted with iron-shod spoked cambered wheels and complete with its matching limber (the cap-squares and accessory straps each modern).
