A FLINTLOCK POWDER-TESTER (EPROUVETTE), FRENCH OR FLEMISH; AND A FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL, AUSTRIAN OR BOHEMIAN
The first circa 1770; the second circa 1740
The first with graduated wheel with chamber-cover and moving on a ratchet-spring, vertical powder-chamber, engraved lock (the cock repaired), walnut stock, and iron trigger-guard and side-plate; the second with sighted barrel inlaid with a half-figure in brass (light pitting), engraved flat lock, later moulded walnut full stock and brass mounts, including engraved spurred pommel with demon mask cap, matching pierced side-plate, and matching trigger-guard decorated with a warrior bust (ramrod-pipes associated, ramrod replaced).
