A Chinese mother-of-pearl inlaid wood cross, late 18th early 19th century
the cross-section inlaid with a chalice flanked by foliate floral sprays, surmounted by a cross encircled by a crown of thorns between a blossom and the dove, the lower section inlaid with a flaming heart pierced by five swords, a ribboned ladder and banner, skull and bones by a ewer and basin and stalks of wheat above an acanthus leaf and scrolling flowers -- 15 1/8in. (38.4cm.) high.
