A Chinese blue and white shallow bowl, Jiajing (1522-1566)
with flaring shaped rim, painted with two gambolling Buddhistic lions playing with brocade balls with attached ribbons, the well with entwined foliage, the rim with hatch pattern, the exterior with three dragons pursuing flaming pearls, beneath a whorl pattern border, four character mark 'Da Ming Nian Zao' ('Made During the Great Ming Dynasty') to base -- 12in. (30.5cm.) diam.
