Lot Essay

The present work is from the first edition of e Lezard aux Plumes d'Or published in 1967. Mid-way through printing the project was abandoned by the artist and his publisher because some of the colours used were reacting with the specially commissioned paper. By the time this defect had come to light the original plates had been erased, and as a consequence Miró produced a new series of plates, which were published under the same title in 1971.
