The Third Gyles Bear by Carol Moss
No.1 retained from a limited edition of 70 sold excusively in the museum wearing knitted 'Gyles' teddy bear jumper, jointed with label in bottom seam, 1999 --16in. (40.5cm.) high; and a yellow knitted jumper by George Hostler with the museum bear Marmaduke dressed a William Shakespeare wearing a ruff and holding a quill, the back with 'Happy Birthday William' (2)

Lot Essay

This is the third Gyles bear created for the museum when both House of Nisbet and Diane Jones discontinued previous versions.

Gyles jumper designed exclusively for the bear by George Hostler.

Gyle's jumper in this lot was created to mark Shakespeare's birthday on 23 April 1989.
