An Umetada Tsuba, a Shoami Tsuba, a Kinko Tsuba and an Aizu-Shoami Tsuba
Edo period (17th-18th century)
Comprising a small oval iron tsuba inlaid with flowering vine in iroe taka-zogan pierced with large sea slug hitsu-ana; an iron rounded-square plate hammered and worked on the surface and decorated with a boat by the shore with pine trees in iroe taka-zogan, hitsu-ana plugged; a rounded-square iron plate with cranes and crabs in gold taka-zogan and pieced with birds in ji-sukashi, the plate carved with a seashore in ke-bori; a mokko iron plate carved with crashing waves and inlaid with flying seabirds in gold, sea foam gold dots
2½in. (6.4cm.); 3 3/8in. (8.6cm.); 2 7/8in. (7.3cm.); 3¼in. (8.3cm.) long
