Sale room notice
This meuble d'appui or basse-armoire may be attributed to Guillaume Grohé (1808-1885). An identical model cabinet by Grohé, decorated in contre partie (rather than première partie, as here), and supplied for the apartments of the duc d'Aumale at Chantilly, may be found in the Musée Condé, Chantilly (see Adriana Boidi Sassone, Il Mobile dell'Ottocento, Novara, 1988, p.126).
