Lot Essay

The figure in the bottom center is probably Desi Sangye Gyatso (1677-1705), identifiable by his robes and the wheel in his hand, who was an important regent of Tibet and took over after the death of the great Fifth Dalai Lama. The figure seated to the lower right of the Dalai Lama, in blue robes and also holding a wheel, is probably Gushri Khan who supported the Fifth Dalai Lama.
