Wearing a short dhoti, the face with downcast, eyes flanked by pendulous earlobes, the hair in a cylindrical chignon centered by Amitabha

Lot Essay

This very rare and unusual bronze bears a graceful outline contrasting with strong angular features. No other bronzes of this type appear to be recorded; compare with stone sculpture in J. Boisselier, La Statuaire du Champa, 1963, figs. 19 and 22.
