Lot Essay

This distinctive model appears in various guises from different Scottish producers of the period; a similar pair, but unglazed were sold Christie's South Kensington, 2 Feburary 2000, lot 278, stamped 'HURLFORD FIRE CLAY WORKS, KILMARNOCK', another sold Christie's Wrotham Park, 2nd October 1990, lot 201, stamped 'A & G CRAIG, HILLHEAD, KILMARNOCK'. A pair by the Ferguslie works was sold in these rooms 21st March 2007, lot 222.
