AN ARITA 'WESTERWALD' BEER MUG, late 17th Century
Enamelled in green, iron-red and gilt on underglaze blue, the oviform body moulded with studs in underglaze blue and enriched in gilt, between blue-washed and iron-red scrolling bands around the short foot and slightly tapering neck, one side painted with stylized lotus and set with a C-shaped handle (rim crack and related glaze chip)
