A faux bois blue and white brushpot, late 19th century
formed as a square-sectioned well made of interlocking wood planks, supported on a short foot, the exterior enamelled in faux bois and the interior painted in underlgaze blue with carps, prunus blossoms and buds amidst waves, underglaze-blue four character Daoguang mark -- 6 3/16in. (15.7cm.) wide.
