See Tamara Préaud, et al., The Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory: Alexandre Brongniart and the Triumph of Art and Industry, 1800-1847, New Haven, 1997, cat nos. 11a & b and the cover image - the watercolor, gouache, pencil and ink on paper designs for a teapot and cover and a milk-jug of the form 'Etrusque B', likely designed in 1804 by Alexandre Brogniart's father and with the same distinctive D-shape handle found on the present footed cups. The incised kiln date is for revolutionary year 13: 23 September 1804 - 23 September 1805.
