Lot Essay

This titulary of the King/Aten was not used after Year 9 of Akhenaten's reign. The "sunshades" were usually temples at the periphery of the site of Tell el Amarna, dedicated to royal women. The Aten was the span of Time, the creator of the Universe. "For it is you who are Time itself, the Span of the world; life is by means of you" (Hymn to the Aten).
