A VILLANOVAN IMPASTO WARE URN
CIRCA 8TH CENTURY B.C.
With rounded body and neck, flaring rim and single strap handle, the body with incised decoration of four framed geometric designs, the corners with stamped circles, a band of zigzag above, horizontal bands of diagonal lines and stylized zigzags below the rim, handle with stamped circle decoration, 11 in. (28 cm.) high; an impasto ware cover with loop handle, three ridges around the angled rim, 5¼ in. (13 cm.) high; and a Columbian style pottery bowl, bands of punched triangles and incised chevrons below the rim, and two stylized faces, twin small loop handles, 6 in. (15.2 cm.) high (3)
