AN URARTIAN BRONZE BELT
LATE 8TH/EARLY 7TH CENTURY B.C.
With spiral decoration overall, the terminal panel divided into three rows of lions, birds and rosettes, 41 x 5 in. (104 x 12.7 cm.); another similar, decorated with rows of dotted bands, the front terminal panels with stylized quadrupeds, 39½ x 6 in. (11.5 x 15.2 cm.); another with animals and mythological beasts including bulls, ibex, sirens, some depicted as archers, rosettes in between, 42 x 3¾ in. (107 x 9.5 cm.); another with two rows of fish and birds, three panels in between each with figurative scene, 30 x 2½ in. (76.2 x 6.5 cm.), all 8th-7th Century B.C.; another with three rows of alternate separately applied raised bosses, one circular clasp remaining, early 1st millennium B.C., 22½ x 3¼ in. (57 x 8.3 cm.); another fragmentary bronze belt decorated with three registers of stylized quadrupeds, 28 x 3½ in. (71 x 9 cm.); and two sheet bronze guards, both decorated with standing figures and recumbent bulls, 5 in. (12.7 cm.) high max. (8)
