A design from a rare series referring to the painting of a black horse by the ninth Century artist Kanaoka which was reputed to be so lifelike that it escaped every night and cavorted about the garden digging up all the shrubs and was only finally checked when the artist added a halter to the painting tethering the horse to a post, signed Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi, published by Joshuya Kinzo, kiwame seal, good impression, colours and condition
