A FARS BRASS BOWL, WEST IRAN, 14TH CENTURY
Of typical form with rounded base and long sloping shoulder rising to the rim, the shoulder engraved and inlaid with black composition in the form of oval cartouches with thuluth inscriptions alternating with roundels containing standing figures, the interstices with lotus and other flowers, a band of arcading below supporting arabesque panels, band of interlace around the rim, the interior with a design of lotus flowers - 9 1/2in. (24cm.) diam
