TWELVE QAJAR MOULDED POLYCHROME GLAZED POTTERY TILES
TEHRAN, NORTH IRAN, CIRCA 1880
Each decorated with blue, black, white and pale manganese under clear glaze with a central octagon composed of a band of floral scrolls and containing a flowerhead with emergent floral sprays framed by a similar star-shaped panel, the spandrels with further trailing foliage, the outer borders of the panel with arabesques between thin registers of dotted motifs, minor chipping, three tiles with repairs
Central tiles 9¾ x 9¾ in. (24.8 x 24.8cm.); corner tiles 11¼ x 11¼in. (28.5 x 28.5cm.); border tiles 11¼ x 9¾in. (28.5 x 24.8cm.) (12)
