CENTRAL IRAN, CIRCA 1200
Of rounded form on short vertical foot, the white interior painted in a variety of overglaze enamels with a series of crouching and kneeling figures across the centre surrounded, above and below, by two confronted harpies around a floral motif, and scattered with polychrome cintamani roundels, the rim with stylised, repeated kufic inscription, the exterior with a band of black inscription, repaired breaks, some flaking of the glaze
8 3/8in. (21.3cm.) diam.

Lot Essay
The inner inscription in kufic, is undeciphered. Around the exterior, in a cursive script, is most probably a repetition of al-'izz, (Glory).
