A MUGHAL ENAMELLED DAGGER
NORTH INDIA, LATE 18TH CENTURY
The curved tapering watered steel double-edged blade with armour-piercing tip and medial ridge terminating above in an applied cusped gilt panel, the waisted hilt decorated in polychrome enamels in a design of scrolling, flowering vine around individual flowerheads, the sheath similarly decorated and with final faceted oval knop, with attachment loops both on the sheath and the hilt, very minor losses of enamel, in Japanese presentation box and with dagger stand
