PROBABLY DECCAN, LATE 17TH CENTURY
Of well rounded drop form, the separate domed cover with screw thread fixing, the surface covered with scale-design inset with rubies and occasional diamonds, bands of diamonds around the mouth and cover, an attachment loop at each side
2¼in. (5.7cm.) high

Lot Essay

A similar smaller bottle of more domed form was sold in these Rooms 24 September 2003, lot 135 and subsequently exhibited by Simon Ray (Simon Ray Islamic and Indian Works of Art, London, 2004, no.41, p.87). A perfume bottle fashioned as a fish with similarly inlaid exterior was sold in these Rooms 8 October 1997, lot 343.
