AN INDIAN EMERALD, RUBY AND DIAMOND INSET GOLD PENDANT
PROBABLY DECCAN, SECOND HALF 18TH CENTURY
Of circular form, the centre with a small diamond set within a faceted emerald within a rosette of diamond petals with ruby interstices, within an openwork band of shaped panels set with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, the reverse with a bold stylised single poppy spray on a plain gold ground within a border of similar small lobes, suspension loop above and pendant pearl below

The design in enamel on the back of this pendant is very similar to that of a pendant in the al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait (Manuel Keene and Salam Kaoukji, Treasury of the World, London, 2001, no.5.6, p.59).
