A large shell pink feather fan, the sticks tortoiseshell,--9.5in. (24cm) sticks, 28in. (71cm) fan; two further similar, the sticks bone or man-made; and a collection of feathers, some set as hair ornaments, all in a Duvelleroy of Paris box

Lot Essay

Large ostrich feather fans were carried by debutants presented at court until the mid-20th century. These are of an archaic type probably used for court occasions, as they appear to date between 1900-1920.
