An ivory model of a street entertainer, signed Sosai, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
carved standing, a large inlaid rectangular box slung over his shoulders, holding a kneeling puppet in his raised right hand, a closed fan in the other, wearing long incised robes and a cloth cap, a small boy to his feet holding onto his long sleeves and carrying a small toy windmill, red lacquer signature tablet to base, signed Sosai -- 15in. (38cm.) high.
