The Bible in Miniature or a Concise History of the Old and New Testaments. London: Printed for W. Harris, 1771. 42 x 28mm. 2 engraved titles, 14 engraved plates (occasional light spotting). Contemporary olive green morocco with monogrammed red morocco onlays on covers, gilt edges (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: early presentation inscription on front free endpaper. Bondy p.33: "All the copies I have seen have had 14 engraved plates"; Spielmann 16 (calling for 13 plates only); Welsh 1007.
"Preface and plates, as well as the lay-out and text are the same as in the later Newbery Bible, which is simply a copy of this edition, published nine years earlier. The plates, although not too finely executed, are superior to the frequently worn-out illustrations used by Elizabeth Newbery ... This edition is much rarer than her edition" (Spielmann).
